Affiliate Marketing - Self Improvement Products
What is Affiliate Marketing?
If you are a life coach or someone working on a self employed basis in the field of self improvement and you are struggling to make money, then one way in which you can earn an additional income is by promoting other people's self improvements products and selling them for a commission.
This is known as affiliate marketing. It is often described as a 'win-win situation' because the person who has written the product gets some money from sales they would not otherwise have had and the affiliate (you) gets commission without having to create the original product.
eBooks are often the easiest type of product to promote over the internet as they can be downloaded simply and payment can be processed automatically.
Affiliate Marketing - Some Considerations
Affiliate marketing like most other ways of making money usually requires a considerable amount of work in order to set up the systems and generate sufficient interest in the products to make a decent sum of money.
The advantage is that once you have set up the systems and have an appropriate target audience you can make income without having to put in a lot of extra work - for example, you may have your affiliate link to the product you are promoting on a webpage which receives a lot of appropriate targeted traffic and therefore generates regular income from sales of the products you are promoting on the page.
In particular you need to be able to find an audience of people who are interested in the products you are promoting as an affiliate and who are prepared to spend money to buy them.
If you have a website or a list of email subscribers then you can promote the products you are selling as an affiliate through those means.
If possible, make sure that the products you are promoting:
- Are products which you believe in and can honestly endorse
- Match the needs or wishes of the people you are promoting them to.
Signing Up to An Affiliate program
In signing up to an affiliate program it usually makes sense to sign up to one which automates the process of tracking sales so that you can be sure that you are being correctly paid for the sales that you generate.
There are a number of affiliate networks that you can sign up to as an affiliate. In the field of self improvement Clickbank is one of the well known affiliate networks but there are plenty of others.
Affiliate Marketing - Warning Note about Scams
There are plenty of genuine bona fide affiliate marketing programs. Most of them do not charge anything in order for you to sign up as an affiliate (they usually charge the creator of the product a fee and/or they gain a commission themselves from each sale) and you may well be able to receive payment through Paypal or by cheque rather than having to provide bank account details if you don't want to.
If you come across a service that asks you for up front monies or your bank account details in order to become an affiliate or to use its services or promote products with the promise of wonderful profits, then make sure that you investigate thoroughly first to ensure that it is not a scam.
