Improving Quality of Life
One of the
keys to making important changes is recognising that what you want and
need is
not necessarily the same as what other people think is best for you or what they would want and need for
themselves. In my work I express this
by saying that ‘Quality
of Life’ is
subjective. For one person a good quality of life might
involve earning £500,000 per annum and driving a fast
car. For another person it might involve being in a
fulfilling
relationship or simply being able to manage stresses better or get
through a crisis, or building a future you can be enthused about.
The personal
nature of quality of life is
succinctly captured by The Quality of Life Research Unit in the
At the end of
your initial programme of life coaching I will ask you to redo the
Quality of Life Assessment (without looking at your initial
scores!) and see what has changed.
When
re-completing the Quality of Life Assessment after an initial series of
sessions coaching (usually 6-8 weeks), clients
have reported
the following increases in satisfaction levels:
- 500% increase in feeling relaxed and in good mental health
- 200% increase in satisfaction with nature of work/daily occupation
- 200% increase in satisfaction with
relationships in work/daily occupation
- 150%
increase in satisfaction with quality of
relationship with partner
- 150% increase in satisfaction with level of income
- 200% increase in satisfaction with level of savings
- 250% increase in satisfaction with use of leisure time
