Telephone Coaching - The Benefits
There are a number of advantages to coaching by phone:
- It is convenient and practical and produces beneficial outcomes
- It avoids the need for the client or coach to travel, saving time and expense
- Coaching sessions can take place when the client and life coach live in different parts of the UK or in different countries
- It helps to ensure that appropriate professional boundaries are maintained between the coach and the client
- Clients need not worry about the risks at the start of the process of meeting an unknown person
- Phone coaching helps to create focus and achieve positive results for you, since external distractions such as might occur in a public meeting place are avoided.
- The sessions can concentrate on what they are meant to achieve - helping you to achieve solutions for difficulties or to create and implement positive plans for the future.
For the above reasons, most of my life coaching is done by phone rather than face to face, or where telephone coaching is impractical I can provide email coaching.
The exceptional situation in which I do provide face to face coaching is when I am coaching someone on a regular ongoing basis - perhaps in a role close to that of a personal advisor -or when I have an ongoing business coaching relationship with someone. In this instance it does sometimes help the process if some or all of the coaching sessions are face to face as the nature of the relationship is ongoing.
Otherwise for a small number of focused coaching sessions I recommend telephone coaching as the preferred option rather tha face to face coaching.
