At the time of writing there is nor requirement on life coaches to undergo any specific training in order to practise as a life coach. Therefore if you are considering undertaking training to become a life coach, I would suggest that you make careful enquiries regarding the provider of the training (including those listed below) and the course to ascertain relevant information including:
- The skills, experience and qualifications of those providing the life coach training
- The content of the particular life coach training course
- The way in which the course will be provided - will it be by correspondence or by seminars or face to face tuition?
- What coaching practices you will get whilst doing the course and whether that will be supervised
- What qualification the course will result in - you might for example obtain a certificate in personal coaching, a certificate in life coaching or a diploma in life coaching
- What people who have completed the training course say about it
- Whether the coaching course also covers aspects relevant to setting up your own life coaching business, such as marketing a life coaching business and other matters relevant to setting up any business - accounts, administration, any investment required etc.
- What percentage of people complete the course successfully and how it is decided whether you have reached the required standard
- How much the course will cost
- Any other issues that you think are important for you.
