Feeling Trapped?

What should you do if you are in a situation in your personal or working life where you feel trapped or frustrated?

Assuming that the situation is not one in which your personal health or safety is under immediate threat, then it may be sensible to try to think through the options open to you and to make a decision as to which one or more you want to start exploring or trying out.

Remember there may not be a perfect option but this doesn't mean you have no choice at all. Below are some suggested questions you might ask to help you explore options:

1. What is the situation in which you feel trapped?

 

2. What would like you to be different for you about this situation?

 

3. Fill in the table below with some options as to how you might act in the situation, starting with the option of staying in your current situation and trying to improve it, then listing other possible options and exploring each in turn.
