Re-Evaluating Your Business Aims

After you have been running your own business for a while, it is sensible to reevaluate whether you have achieved what you originally set out to achieve and whether your aims remain the same as they were when you started.

Here are a set of questions it may be worth reflecting on to help you reevaluate your business aims and set some new ones if appropriate:

1. How long have you been running your business?

2. What is the nature of your business?

3. When you started your business what were you hoping to get out of it?

4. To what extent have you achieved what you hoped to get out of the business originally?

5. What has helped you towards achieving your original aims/hopes for the business?

6. What has hindered you or made it difficult for you to achieve your original aims for the business in ful or always?

7. What additional benefits have you gained or found from running your business (if any)?

8. What additional problems or downsides have you experienced from running the business that you have not already mentioned (if any)?

9. What new or additional aims might you now want for the business instead of or in additional to the original aims you had?

10. If you could achieve those aims what potential benefits do you think it would bring you?

11. Can you foresee any possible downsides, drawbacks or difficulties in trying to achieve those aims?

12. Are there any other comments tht you would like to make that might be relevant before you decide for certain on the updated aims for your business?

Once you have answered the above questions, write out your updated business aims!
